Donald Bussies, age 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 5, 2021, after a long battle with dementia. Don was born August 22, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Justin and Minnie Bussies. He graduated from Hope College. It was at Hope where he met Jocelyn Fryling and they were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Don enjoyed a successful career at Steelcase. He loved music, cars, and the great outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Don Vander Kolk. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jocelyn; children Glenn (Lisa) Bussies, Heidi (Andy) Mann, and Sarah Vander Kolk; grandchildren Justin (May) Bussies, Tiffany (John) Turner, Parker Bussies, Emily Mann, Carter Mann, Sarah Mann, Eliza Mann, Jocelyn (John) Westra, Clayton (Ali) Vander Kolk, Gretchen Vander Kolk, and Kyler Vander Kolk; great-grandchildren Rose, Ruby, and Colton; and sister, Norma Melaven.

The memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 13 at Rosewood Reformed Church, 2795 Rosewood St., Jenison, with Rev. Howard Moths officiating. The family will meet relatives and friends at the church from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 12 and Tuesday, July 13, for one hour prior to the service. They welcome memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Don may be made to the Colima Orphanage (Please make checks payable to Rosewood Reformed Church and write Colima in the memo).

jocelyn , we have many memories at church, sunday school and breakfast at the senior breakfast. i am so sorry i was unable to go to don’s memorial service. i have been in Bay City with my daughters. know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers
