Donald Clemens Host

Donald Clemens Host, age 78, of Middleville, passed from the arms of his family into the hands of God July 6, 2010. Don was preceded in death by Marjorie Ann Dolan, his wife of 39 years, and his son, William James.

Don was born October 15, 1931 in Grand Rapids and was a son of the late Katherine and Robert Host, Sr. He served America as a medic in the Army, being honorably discharged in 1952. Soon after, he married Marge, with whom he had seven children. He retired from CSX Railroad, and then enjoyed many sunrises on Barlow Lake, as well spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family and for his compassion and generosity.

Don is survived by his children Susan and Larry Vaught, Douglas and Rosa, Stephen and Roxanne, Theresa and Davitt Barry, Tom and Heidi, and Daniel. He will be forever missed by all, especially by his grandchildren Katie and Cassie, Eric, Alex and Parker, Sara and Declan, Sophie, Brittany, his great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his brother Leon Deanie, and his sisters Marie Timmerman, Karen Hayes, and Linda Bob Kozlowicz.

Funeral services will be held on July 9 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney, where Don was a parishioner for many years. Entombment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery 4100 Clyde Park, Wyoming. Friends may meet with the family at Cook Funeral Home, Grandville, on July 8 from 6:00-8:00 pm, or at the church 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider the charity of your choice.
