Dorothy Elaine Pyle

PYLE - Dorothy Pyle, age 85, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at home. She was born on July 8, 1929, in St. Paul, MN, to Philip and Helen Mackey. She married Earl Pyle in 1952; he preceded her in death in 1975. They moved to Grand Rapids in 1956 and became members of South United Methodist Church soon after. The church and her church family were a big part of her life. She worked as a secretary, retiring after 25 years from Old Kent Bank. She cherished her time as a grandmother. She enjoyed flower gardens, traveling and dining, and sharing a smile with friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Roger Pyle of Grand Rapids, daughters, Shirley Pyle of Crystal, Barbara (Rod) Denning of Grand Rapids; granddaughters, Anna, Abigail and Lydia Denning; sister, Nancy Ooley of Eagan, MN; nieces, Lisa Frost, Michelle Ooley, and Kristine Reed; and many friends. The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Tamela Mecum and Tracy Edson. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Mackey and Patricia McLaughlin Johnson.

The funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at the South United Methodist Church with Rev. Mack Strange officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, MI (West Building).
