Edith Ophoff

Ophoff - Edith (Steigenga) Ophoff, aged 89, of Tulsa, OK went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Edith was born in Grand Rapids on April 15, 1923. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High class of 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Tena (Palma) Steigenga, husband of 25 years, Fred Ophoff, son David, and brothers Pete Steigenga and Joe Steigenga, and sister Jean (Steigenga) Pastoor. She is survived by her sons Rick (Lorraine) Ophoff, Timothy (Linda) Ophoff, and daughters Jennifer (Craig) Van Patten and Christena (Jeff) Jirinec, 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Edith was known for her lovely singing voice. Classically trained, as a young woman she was a member of the St. Cecilia's Music Society. For many years, she sang weekly on the Reformed Witness Hour radio program, and throughout her life sang in choral productions and at weddings.
