

HAAKSMA a?" Elmer Haaksma, age 73, of Gun Lake, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 3, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Freda Ann Haaksma and father, Andrew Haaksma. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Alice (Fryling) Haaksma; children, Sheryl (Mike) Meulenberg, Barbara Haaksma, Steve (Kim) Haaksma, Marvin Haaksma, Rick (Jayne) Cronin, and Claude (Lora) Cronin; grandchildren, Amanda, Erin (Jason), Andrea (John), Mitchell, Stephanie, Matthew, Nathan, Hannah, Taylor, and Kellie; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Sylvia; mother, Annie Haaksma; siblings, John (Mary), Helen (Jim) Leep, Reynold, Gerrit, Itwin (Mary), Andy, Ted (Lena), Freda, Ben (Sue), and Betty (Jerry) Ferman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at the Byron Center First Christian Reformed Church, 2450 a?" 85th SW, Byron Center, MI with Pastor Mark Veldt officiating. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Saturday from 4 a?" 8 pm and Sunday from 3 a?" 7 pm at the Byron Center Chapel of Cook Funeral Home, 2067 a?" 84th SW.
