Ethel C. Joppe

JOPPE PRESTON Ethel E-Jay Joppe, age 91, of Grand Rapids, went to her new address with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, June 11, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Joppe; her parents Arthur & Sophia Preston; her brother Phil Preston; her sisters Gladys Anderson, Bobbie Sanson, Dottie VanWeezel, and her grandson Scott Lamphear.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandra L. George VanLaan, Sharon L. Jack Novak of AZ, Raymond R. Judy Joppe, Dennis P. Julie Joppe; her 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and her sister Betty Stoutjesdyk. She was private secretary for the director of the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Mr. DuMont, in the 40's. She also contributed to the WWII effort as a driver of the Army.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with visitation for one hour prior to the service, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 3655 Wilson Ave, with Rev. Glenn Kopper officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with E-Jay's family on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW west building.
