Frederick Edward Mauer

Fred is survived by his wife Sharlene Mauer (Russell), brother Max Mauer and wife Shirley, sister-in-law Paula Mauer, daughter Teresa Kenyon and son-in-law Richard, son Alan Mauer and daughter-in-law Robin, son Kevin Mauer and daughter-in-law Michele and grandchildren Korey Mauer and wife Clarissa, Amanda Mauer, Tyler Mauer, Kaelee Mauer, Jessica Mauer, Trisha Mauer, Luke Mauer and Alec Mauer. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Molly Mauer and his brother Leonard Mauer.

Fred was born on June 13, 1935 in Flint, MI to Edward and Molly Mauer. He served 3 years in the Marines and was honorably discharged in 1955. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1960 with a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry. He married Sharlene Russell, in 1958. After moving to Lansing, Fred began working for the Board of Water and Light. Later moving to Kalamazoo he worked for Dearborn Chemical and in 1970 he moved his family to Grand Rapids working for Mitco and later Steelcase. He always loved doing woodworking and making gifts for family and friends.

A viewing is schedule for Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 1p.m.-3 p.m. with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center. Pastor Dean Wheeler from Resurrection Life Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fred's life.
