KARSEBOOM – George Karseboom, age 79, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with illness. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving husband, father and brother. He was a graduate of Wyoming Park High and retired from the Grand Rapids Press. He always had a good joke to share, enjoyed watching baseball and the birds at the feeder. In his earlier days he had a habit of collecting speeding tickets.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Scott King and wife, Anne; sister in law, Phyllis Karseboom; nephew, Steve Karseboom and wife, Jane; great nephew, Brian Karseboom; and many very dear friends and family.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville East Building with Pastor Kent Walters officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville West Building.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries, Kent County Humane Society, or Rose Garden Assisted Living.
George was a special person who will be missed dearly. The world is a darker place without him. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookfuneralservices.com.
