Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years with stations including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Hawaii, Okinawa, and three years aboard the U.S.S. America. After the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Post Office until he retired. His favorite pastimes were watching sports and sprint car racing.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth; children Richard (Michelle) Orrell, Carl (Sherri) Orrell, and Robert Orrell (Stephanie D. Bleau). He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister, Shirley Lowing; nephew, Trevor Lowing; sister-in-law, Dorothy Peter; brother-in-law, Jim Vineyard.
A celebration of life gathering will be held in the spring at a date TBD. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jerry, contributions may be made to Corewell Health Hospice. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guest book online.
