

Gordon was born on August 21, 1921 in Jamestown to Herman and Dora Lubbers. Gordon was a decorated veteran of WWII. In 1980, after 40 years of service as a tool & die maker/supervisor he retired from GM's Fisher Body in Wyoming. He loved golfing, fishing, bowling, building windmills and grandfather clocks and just puttering around in his garage.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Betty; two daughters, Sandra Richard Veltkamp-Applebee of Belmont and Louane Gerald Lubbers Umbarger of Grant; a daughter-in-law, Carol Lubbers; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Theodore Geneva Lubbers, Marvin Elizabeth Lubbers, Donald Joyce Lubbers and Richard Ruth Lubbers all of Grandville; four sisters, Thelma DeKraker of Grandville, Elizabeth Visser of Jenison, Beatrice Richard Martin of Georgetown and Doris Wind of Allendale; three sisters-in-law, Fran Lubbers and Jenny Lubbers of Wyoming and Harriet DeYoung of Grand Rapids; and a multitude of nephews and nieces.
His son, Gordon Jr., his grandson, Gordon III and two brothers, Harvey Lubbers and Melvin Lubbers, precede him in death.
Services will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, Tuesday, October 6th at 2:00 p.m. with a one hour viewing before the service. Rev. Carol Flietstra officiating.
