Born on February 20, 1918, to Jacob & Effie De Vries, married to Harry Meyer on March 13, 1941, after 101+ years on this Earth, Grace entered her eternal home on November 9, 2019. Predeceased by her husband in 1995 and by a granddaughter, Holly, in 2012, Grace lived most of her life in Jenison - the last nine years at Sunset Manor.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Redder of Hudsonville, MI, her son; Rev. Ron (Jill) Meyer of Wyoming, MI; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews - including one, Marcia Pell, who was very close to her and who called ‘Aunt Grace’ every day, even from various locations.
Grace outlived all of her seven siblings, Florence, Jeanette, Henry, John, Ann, Esther and Margaret - and their spouses.
Along with her husband, Grace served as a missionary in Nigeria from 1967-1971. Grace was the oldest charter member of Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, which is constructed on land that was farmed by her parents for many years.
Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428 with visitation from 12 - 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
In her memory, contributions may be made to Sunset Legacy Foundation or Resonate Global Mission - in support of Rev. Ben and Amy Meyer.
