Helen Arlene Covey

Helen Arlene Covey, age 96, went to be with her Lord Sunday, March 16, 2025. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Covey; daughter, Diane Borgman; parents Thomas and Esther Dub. She will be remembered by her children Dave Covey and Darla Covey; grandchildren Chad Edmunds, Carrie Edmunds, Andy Edmunds, Scott Edmunds, Ashley Covey, and Adam Covey; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Roger and Helen were charter members of Fair Haven Reformed Church and were very active in the church. Helen was a stay-at-home mother until the children were grown and then she went to work as the payroll clerk for Olsten Temporary Services. When she started, she used a large ledger to calculate the payroll and write the checks for the temporary employees. When computers came along, Olsten sent her to New York City to learn the computer program and how to calculate the payroll on the computer. Later, the company flew her to New York City again, to learn the new payroll computer program. Helen also helped Rog with the payroll of his company.

Helen enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She would go to craft shows with her daughters and then out to lunch; this became a yearly tradition. Every weekend, she and Rog would meet up with family or friends and play cards. She would meet up with friends to walk the mall, or weather permitting, walk outside. She and Rog loved playing golf and often played a round of golf together. She was also on a ladies golf league for a few years. She liked bowling as well and would take her grandkids bowling. Helen volunteered at Legacy Thrift Store in Jenison, MI for a few years. In her later years, she would go to an adult daycare and play BINGO and make crafts. She also loved to play her solitaire card game.

A graveside service and celebration of Helen’s life will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens, O-5371 Eighth Avenue SW, Grandville, MI 49418, at a date and time to be determined. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
