
KAMPS HOOGEWIND - Helen Kamps, formerly of Byron Center, died July 3, 2009, two days before her 99th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; daughter Patricia; sons Bert and J.B.; son-in-law Harold Van Overloop; great grandchildren Nick Van Overloop, Evelyn Tuinstra and Alan Kamps. She is survived by her children, Nancy Van Overloop, daughter-in-law Joyce Kamps, Herm Shirley Kamps, Helen Lyle VerStrate, Gretta Ron Barbrick and Joyce Ritchie; 20 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 23 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law in Montana, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her welcoming hospitality and for many years of Saturday buns and cinnamon rolls for all who stopped by. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Garden at Brookcrest for their loving care and support of "Miss Helen" over the past years.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Byron Center First Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Ron Noorman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center, 2067 84th St. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookfuneralservices.com.
