Herman Nelson Schellenberg, age 95, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Herman was preceded in death by his parents Herman Sr. and Nellie Schellenberg; brothers Robert and Charles Schellenberg; and son, Steven Schellenberg. He will be remembered by his wife, Cheryl; children Patti (Dennis) Balkon, Timothy Schellenberg, Joni (Tom) Thayer, Bill (Rachel) Schellenberg; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Herm's hobbies were travel, enjoying meals out with his wife, and Mr. Burger with his kids. He was also adamant about feeding his birds and doing word search puzzles. He loved following his grandkids' achievements. He conquered climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in 1996 (age 66) and Mt. Sinai in 2011 (age 82).
A celebration of Herman's life will commence 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, with visitation one hour prior, at Eighth Reformed Church, 841 Burton St. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509. Pastor Harry Koops will officiate. In honor of Herman and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries or Corewell Health Hospice.
