James Ray Durham

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Claire and his grandson, Corey. He was also preceded by his two brothers and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his sons Jim and Karen Durham, Rick and Patti Durham, and Terry and Jodi Durham. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason Durham, Joe Durham, Jacob Durham, Jeff Durham, Jack Durham, Jane Durham, Jenna Durham, Craig Durham, Paige Durham, Reid Durham; and several great-grandchildren.

James came to Michigan from Arkansas as a teenager with only a small suitcase and a down pillow, after which he built a full life marked by his passion for hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed coaching and supporting his sons' sports.

James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Private burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan MS Society in memory of James.
