James Henry Freiberg

Freiberg, James - On Friday, May 18, 2018, God called James Freiberg (age 88) home. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Freiberg; brother Eugene and Richard “Dick” and sister, Elva Louise and Nora Lou Delongpre. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, LaVonna; daughter, Bonnie (Tom) House; son, James Freiberg, daughter, Denise (Michael) Starr; grandchildren, Emily and Kandace; sisters, Mary Jane Mitchell, Marilyn “Lynne” Myers; brother, Tom (Starr) Freiberg; sister, Mary Leonard, and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

James was an adoring husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker at Spartan Stores, an avid reader, took great pride in taking care of his grandchildren and being a Korean War veteran. He was loved by all who knew him and took time to make everyone feel important.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2018 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI with Bonnie House officiating. A time for family and friends to greet the family will take place one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Church.
