I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to the Karsten family. Jim and Nancy were patients of mine at the dental office I worked. It was a pleasure over the years to know them, and have a chance to share in the joys of their family growing up. I will miss the friendship, encouragement, and determination that Jim showed.

Once you met Jim Karsten, you had a friend for life. I've known Jim since elementary school years. When I learned of his passing, I realized that I had lost one of my best friends. The Karsten family, What words can I say, how can I say them that will lessen the sorrow that fills our hearts? I can't begin to find words that would do justice to J.K. His lfe has been a gift to others - his caring, his encouragement to me to try harder to be better at all things. Know that we who knew him and loved him are all better people for being lucky enough have him in our lives. J.K., as I called him at South, will always be a part of me. Jim was a great man! His service to the construction industry was always second to none. He was one of the most honest, fair and delightful contractors to work with in the City. Jim's integrity in the industry is unparalleled. He will be missed by many in the industry as an example of a balanced contractor, business man, and passionate leader.

I had the pleasure of working for Jim in the latter part of the 90's. He was always friendly and genuinely concerned about how you were and eager to help you in any way he could.

Mark, Robin and Nancy-My sincere sympathy goes out to you and the rest of the family on the loss of your Dad and husband. I always enjoyed talking to Jim when I "got to the basement" to clean and he was in his office. Loosing a parent is very hard as it's part of that "head of the family" that's no longer there. I know exactly what sorrow you are going through. Thank God we know that someday we will all be together again. Remember the memories...they never die!
