

KARSTEN – James "Jim" W. Karsten, age 74, of Byron Center formerly of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 11, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Lily Karsten and brothers, Eugene and David Karsten.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 56 years, Nancy Perkins Karsten; children, Kim Karsten, Robin Mark Meyers, Steve Fran Karsten, and Dave Susan Karsten; grandchildren, Amy Matt Wierenga, Jason Meyers, Becky, Kari, and Lindsey Karsten, and Andy and Danny Karsten; great grandchildren, Ava and Claire Wierenga; brothers, John Danielle Karsten and Phil Karsten; sister-in-law, Alice Karsten; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Jim was a long time member of Garfield Park Reformed Church, an active member of the South High School Reunion Committee Class of 1953, and a respected member of the construction industry.
A memorial service will be held 11a.m. Thursday at the Beverly Reformed Church, 2141 Porter SW, Wyoming, with his nephew, Rev. James Karsten officiating. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Byron Center Chapel of Cook Funeral Home, 2067 – 84th SW.
