Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jenny; their two sons Jack and Jose; and his daughter, Sadie. He could not have been prouder of Jack, Jose, and Sadie and loved them without limit. On the evening before his passing, Jimmy shared a wonderful last dinner with Sadie—one of the many people whose life he touched with kindness and joy.
Jimmy attended St. Ignace High School in St. Ignace, Michigan, but then moved to Banff, Alberta, and graduated from Banff Community High School. He also played hockey at the Banff Hockey Academy. Jimmy went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Lawrence University, where he excelled at playing hockey. He later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Aquinas College. His love of sports continued throughout his life as a participant, fan, and coach.
A man of deep faith, Jimmy was a proud and faithful Catholic and a parishioner and usher at St. Pius X Parish, where he served alongside his son, Jack. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jimmy will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his protective and loving nature, and his incredible sense of humor. He had a gift for knowing just the right thing to say and a passion for making people laugh. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family—whether it was looking for deer at the cabin, floating on Rollway Lake, playing nine holes at Maple Hill, weekends in Detroit with dinner at Fishbones and Mass at Old St. Mary’s followed by a Lions or a Tigers game, or simply being at home with his dogs Jacoby Jones and Princess Josephine Jones.
He cherished his friendships deeply and lived a life filled with joy, service, and love. His presence made the world brighter, and he will be missed beyond words. Everyone who knows Jimmy loves him.
