Jerry Edward Door

Jerry Edward Door, age 85, of Novi, MI, peacefully passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 11, 2026, after a long fight with dementia and lung cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on February 24, 1941, to Jerry J. and Elizabeth Door. He is remembered by his wife of nearly 63 years, Patricia; children Rick and Tami Door, Amber Door and Jerry Arens, Stacy and Todd Holleman, Christian and Liz Door; and grandchildren Parker Door, Hayden Door, Alex Arens, Madison Arens, Maxwell Holleman, Madelyn and Spencer Wilhelm, Megan and Jayden Anderson, Niklaas Door, and Ava Door. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Bouwman, and is survived by his siblings Mary Nabozny, Yvonne Mulder, and Curt (Candice) Door, in addition to many wonderful friends and extended family.

Jerry graduated from WMU in 1963 with a degree in industrial engineering. He spent over 50 years in sales before fully retiring at the age of 75.

Jerry was a “car guy” to the core and had a real passion for Porsches. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America for more than 40 years, holding a leadership position in the Southeast Michigan Region and racing in the PCA Club Race Program. When not in his garage working on his cars, he loved to read and, until his dementia did not allow it, voraciously read newspapers, magazines, and books.

He was a father who was extremely proud that his children all graduated college and have been married for a combined 136 years. He was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and instilled in them that it is okay to eat dessert first.

He was also a long-term member of North Hills CRC Church.

A celebration of life is planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at North Hills Christian Reformed Church, located at 3150 N. Adams Rd., Troy, MI 48084.
