
He was preceded in death by his son John Jr.; his brother Marshall Haaksma; and his son-in-law James Bradford.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years Dorothy; his daughters, Linda Keith Anderson and Bonnie Don Bauer Weih; his grandchildren, Becky Troy Cumings, Jason Brenda Bradford, Erin Bradford, Sarah Bradford, Christian Anderson, Erin Anderson, William John Weih, and Christopher Weih; his great grandson Jonah Cumings; his brothers, Anthony Haaksma and Erwin Jan Haaksma; his sister-in-law Karen Henning; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was in the 126th Infantry, Red Arrow Division during WW II, serving in New Guinea.
After returning from his service, John owned the Golden Jersey Dairy in Lake Odessa.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St SW - east building with Rev. Dr. Leonard Dahlgren of Mamrelund Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa.
The family will meet with relatives and friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
