

John Covell Tuffs, age 76, passed away February 20, 2023 following a cardiac arrest. John was a teacher at Wyoming Public Schools, retiring in 2011 after 43 years. He was also a Wrestling Coach for Wyoming for 41 years. He was a quiet, loving, gentle soul and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Judy; daughters Angela (Rob) Emery, Diane Marlin; grandchildren Sophia and Ian Marlin; as well as a special family member, Bryan Marlin. Also surviving is a sister, Mary (Eric) Nelson; sisters-in-law Marilyn (Bill) Schotanus and Eunice VanderLaan; and brother-in-law, Tom (Linda) VanderLaan. John is also survived by an aunt, Charlene Oldfield; stepsisters Linda Peck, Julie (Bob) Peck-Sypniewski, and step-brother, John (Stephanie) Peck; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per John’s wishes, his organs and tissues were donated to Gift of Life Michigan to benefit cancer and burn patients. Cremation followed.
A Celebration of John’s Life Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Family requests, in remembrance of how John always dressed, for guests to come dressed casually. In honor of John and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kids' Food Basket, Grand Rapids or Gift of Life Michigan.
