

John Zuiderveen, age 70, of Byron Center, MI and Key West, FL passed away on July 18, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Louise Zuiderveen and his nephew Dan Stuursma.
John graduated from Denver Christian High School in 1963 and received a Bachelor of Arts from Calvin College in 1967 and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University in 1969. He was drafted and honorably served in the military in Germany from 1969 to 1971. John was a CPA and partner with Plante Moran for 36 years, retiring in January 2007. He loved spending time with his family and being a Papa to his grandsons. He loved the mountains, working in his garden, riding his bicycle, watching CNBC with his dogs at his side and laying in his hammock in Key West.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Kathy (Metzger); children Robin (Jamieson) Dill of East Grand Rapids and son Michael of Byron Center; siblings Joan (Scott) Barker and Laurie Feder of Denver, CO, Mark (Susan) Zuiderveen of La Crescenta, CA and Gary Zuiderveen of Pine, CO; sister-in-law Ann (Dwight) Rockers of Arcadia, FL; grandsons Garrett and Jackson Dill, several nieces and nephews and their children and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4PM and 6-8PM Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center, MI. A Celebration of John's life will be held at 11AM Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Fountain Street Church Chapel, Grand Rapids, MI. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at CHCWM and Lack's. In honor of John, contributions may be made to St Paul's Episcopal Church of Key West or Friends of the White Pine Trail. JZ would want us all to Press on Regardless.
