Joshua Hower, age 32, passed away peacefully in his sleep April 25, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side, just as she had been through every step of his incredible journey. Born at Fort Polk, Louisiana, medevaced to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, at only 10 days old, Joshua entered this world already fighting. Diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, he faced unimaginable challenges from the very beginning. Despite a life filled with medical battles and constant pain, Joshua's strength, faith, and kindness were unshakable. He grew up in Hudsonville, Michigan, where he became known for his gentle soul, quiet courage, and unwavering love for those around him. Joshua and Cheyanne's love was a true testament to devotion and resilience. Rarely apart, Cheyanne spent countless nights at the hospital, sleeping on whatever was available just to stay near him. They walked a very hard road hand in hand, their bond unbreakable, their love inspiring, and most importantly, guided by his love for God.
He is survived by his wife, Cheyanne; parents Tom and Amy Hower; sister, Rebecca and Alex Ezinga; brother, Jonah Hower; nephew, Oliver; grandfather, Bob Hower; grandmother, Ruth Bolhuis; uncles Tim and Jennifer Hower (Lorelei, Belle, and Charlotte), Todd and Sara Hower (Sky, Scout, Summer, and Sienna), Randy and Gerri (Christian) Bolhuis, Todd (Noah, Micha) Bolhuis; aunts Penny Hower Stice and Dee Stice, Ranae and Randy Hook (Ethan), Heather and Arron Stob (Grace, Mara, Jack, and Alice), Amber and Mike VanOrder (Meredith, Violet, and Scarlett); cousins Olivia and Noah Przybylski, Sunshine and Dylan Kramer, Willow and Daniel Elyea, Madilyn and Joshua Thurmond (Stella), Marcus Crater; mother-in-law, Donna Childers; sisters-in-law Alex Wieland, Bethany Williams; brother-in-law, Jarod Williams; nieces Alice Lennox, Lotus Williams.
Joshua's passing has left a huge hole in our lives. But we take comfort in knowing he is now resting in the arms of Jesus Christ, finally, for the first time in his life, free from pain.
Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers as we honor the memory of this gentle and courageous soul.
Celebration of life service will take place 6-7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, with visitation (cake, coffee, and lemonade) from 7-8 following the service, at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, MI 49426.
