

Joyce was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 20, 1923 to Carl and Tillie Carlson. Most of her childhood was spent on a farm in Moose Lake, MN with brothers Harold and Norman. Joyce attended Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN where she received her degree as an RN. She also took additional classes at Michigan State. She served as a nurse in WWII in Missouri where she met her husband, Elliott McIntyre (Mac) Myers. They were married 58 years until his passing in 2007. Together, they ran the “Pet Vet Clinic” in Grandville, MI and raised their children Margaret (Ron) Peterson, both of whom predeceased Joyce; and Rebecca (Rich) Klein and John (Wendy) Myers.
She leaves behind her brother Harold and wife Maggie; two grandchildren Jeremy Southwell and Mark (Katie) Peterson; five great-grandchildren Jayden, Emmaline, Nevaeh, Olivia and Falynn; three step-great-grandchildren; Dominic, Ashton, and Alaina; many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to service.
In honor of Joyce and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
