June Mary Stuart died peacefully in the arms of her Heavenly Father October 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Nicole Stuart Jr.; mother, Mildred Mary Stuart; and brother, Alexander Nicole Stuart III; and sister, Mildred Carol Funk. She will be deeply missed by her younger brother, sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Several passions guided her life's purpose, which included her love of traveling, family, and her Catholic faith. She was known for her love of laughter and memories of family time; telling stories filled with that same laughter are plentiful. She loved Broadway shows, horses, and cats. As a young lady, she traveled the world, including Russia in a time before the iron curtain fell. Aunt June could always be relied on when family needs arose. There were many trips flying to New York to stay with her and take in all the city sights. She was born and raised on Long Island, New York. After graduating high school, she worked in the banking and insurance industry before finishing up her career as an accountant with the archdiocese of Brooklyn. She was an active member of the parish of St. Brendans. After retiring, she moved to Brick, New Jersey and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. She was also a voracious reader.
She is survived by her brother, Doug Stuart, of Homer, Alaska; sister-in-law, Gloria Stuart; nieces Stacey, Karenlee, Heather; nephews Robert, Brian, Alexander Nicole Stuart IV, Alex, Christopher, Matthew, Edward, Andrew, and Paul; grand-nieces and -nephews Shayla, Devon, Shane, Cameron, RJ, Alex, Matthew, Mariah, Sara, Erica, and Jessica, as well as other grand-nieces and -nephews. She also had numerous great-grand-nephews and -nieces.
It gave the family peace of mind to know that if funds were depleted, Aunt June would stay at Sunset thanks to the benevolence fund. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in June's name to the Sunset Legacy Foundation, 725 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday October 28, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Church, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428, with visitation one hour prior to Mass from 10-11 a.m. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com
