Kay Del Behrenwald, age 87, took an angel flight to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior February 23, 2025. She was born January 25, 1938 to James and Margaret Kos and spent her youth in Lakeview, Michigan. She attended Calvin College and became a registered nurse, dedicating many years of service at Sparrow Hospital and private hospital nursing.
Beyond her career, Kay had a deep passion for helping others. She worked tirelessly with single mothers, provided wisdom and resources, and participated in the evening pregnancy hotlines. A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted member of Resurrection Life Church, hosted Bible studies in her home and freedom ministry sessions. Kay was a prayer warrior to all she knew. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Society, cherishing the friendships and camaraderie it brought into her life. Kay enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, tennis, reading her Bible and long walks.
Kay was a devoted wife to her husband Larry of 67 years. Together they shared the joy of raising their children on the farm in Clarksville, Michigan and started several business endeavors.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry; children James and Wendy, and Michelle; as well as grandchildren Jesse (fiancée, Caroline), Jake (Sarah), John (Camille), and Jennifer; siblings James (Magda) Kos, Joan Powers, and David (Frances) Kos; sisters-in-law Bonnie Selesky and Kaygee (Bernard) Rasmussen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kay found immense joy in being "Nanna" to her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to attend their activities. Nanna was affectionately known to family and friends as the game-playing “card shark"; she was also known for her warm, loving hugs, and witty comments. Kay’s unwavering kindness and dedication to Jesus, prayer, and family touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her, for she loved you.
A celebration of life will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the ResLife Church Center, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation prior from 1-3 p.m. Guests may enter using doors E or H. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local pregnancy resource center in honor of Kay’s passion for helping the children and mothers.
