She will be lovingly missed by her husband, Jeff Emelander; children Justin (Megan) Emelander, Joshua Emelander, and Jessica Ann-Michelle Emelander; granddaughter, Ellery; parents Dan and Carol Roest; siblings Christine (Richard) Kerber and Donald (Lisa) Roest; in-laws Edward and Helen Emelander; nieces Jennie and Megan; and many friends. The family would like to recognize some special people in Lisa’s journey: Wendy Breuring, Kerri Hubler, and Heather Hendriksen.
Lisa lived a wonderful God-filled life as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and best friend. She has been described as being strong, faithful, inspirational, compassionate, a caretaker, and a fighter. She loved listening to and naming all the birds, watching the cooking channel, riding horses, beach going, hanging out with friends and family, camping, fall color touring, watching movies and sharing about April and Tajiri the giraffes. Lisa connected with everyone, and everyone connected with her. She never met a stranger. We will miss her dearly. Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th Street, S.W., Byron Center, MI 49315. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019, with an hour of visitation prior to the service, at First Baptist Church of Middleville, 5215 M-37 Highway, Middleville, MI 49333. Lisa’s final resting place will be at Burnips Cemetery.
In honor of Lisa and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jeff Emelander to offset medical expenses. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com.
