Marilyn Kay Vander Wiere, age 85, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Bob Vander Wiere; son, Randy Vander Wiere; and parents Fred and Catherine Geskus. She will be remembered by her children Bobby (Kim) Vander Wiere, Tim (Norva) Vander Wiere, and Denise Vander Wiere; grandchildren Katie (Dylan) Pomarius, Karra Vander Wiere, Luke Vander Wiere, Kelsey Vander Wiere, Kayla (JP) Eloff, Trevor (Kenzie Kelly) Vander Wiere, Zach Vander Wiere, Meghan (Tyler) Sloss; great-grandchildren Corianna, Emeline, Emmett, and Baby Eloff; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marilyn was a longtime resident of the Grandville community where she raised her three boys - her pride and joys. She will be remembered as one-of-a-kind, always the life of the party, and willing to do anything for the ones she loved. She was happiest spending time with her family on Big Star Lake, or living in The Villages, Florida where she could spend the day golfing and the nights dancing away at the town square with “2 for 1” scotch in hand. For the past 32 years, she lived for the weekends where she could enjoy time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Big Star Lake. Her spirit and zest for life will always be remembered.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 1-3 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will commence immediately after at 3 p.m. When in attendance, we kindly ask that all non-vaccinated guests wear a face covering and practice social distancing for their safety and well-being of the family. In honor of Marilyn and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
