

OWEN - Marvin Owen, age 58, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, September 3, 2016, while working on his hunting land, “The Farm” in Brown County, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris “Jean” Owen; his sister, Barbara Poll; his brother, John Owen; his mother-in-law, Lee Yoder; his infant sister-in-law, Diane Yoder; and his niece, Jessica Gregory.
Marv will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Owen (Yoder); his son, Randall and Lex Owen, and their baby due in October; his daughter, Katie Owen and her sons, Gabriel and Jonah; his father, Bobbie Owen; his brothers, Dan and Dorene Owen, Jim and Eileen Owen; Sharon’s father, Gordon Yoder; Sharon’s siblings, Terry Yoder, Mary Ann and Lou Karides, Julie and Matt Gregory; and many nieces and nephews.
Marv was “Pops” to his grandkids, who absolutely loved him. He was passionate about the people of Haiti. He and Sharon traveled there every year to serve at Camp Mahanaim, in Les Cayes, Haiti, with Rod, Deb and Katie Wray. They also served together at their church, First Reformed Church and Dégagé in downtown Grand Rapids. Marv loved hunting and being in the great outdoors.
Relatives and friends may visit with Marv’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 – 84th St. SW. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 9, at First Reformed Church in Byron Center, 8425 Byron Center Ave.
In honor of Marv, contributions may be made in lieu of flowers, to Camp Mahanaim, checks may be made to: First Reformed Church – Haiti.
