He is survived by his wife, Clare Kramer; his children Sharon Dan Elzinga; Randy Kathy Kapteyn, Edie Jay VerMeer, Jeff Laura Kapteyn; step-children Pat Mike Leatherman, Cindy Bryan Roodvoets; grandchildren, Paul Elzinga, Elisabeth Jim Knott, Janet Phil Doezema, Nathan Jenny Elzinga, Jeremy Michelle Kapteyn, Deb Paul Veldhuis, Naomi Scott Marcum, Toni Ian Verhey, Brant VerMeer, Alex, Austin, Chase, Maylynn Kapteyn; step-grandchildren Steve Violet Kramer, Jeff Ashley Kramer, Matt Ashley Kramer, Troy Leatherman, Kelli Gary Dykstra, Chris Leatherman, Sara Leatherman, Taylor , Katie and Landan Roodvoets; 14 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren; his sister Mildred Franklin Bouwsma; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Ruth Post, Alice Minard Visser, Marion Post, Nelson Juella VanDam, Shirley VerBeek and Seth "Jun" Post.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at First Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center with Pastors Thomas K. Groelsema and Ron Noorman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center 2067 84th and one hour prior to services Monday at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Byron Center Christian Schools or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
