Dear Mr. Steffes, My memories of your beautiful life partner and wife are all warm and loving. She was such a wonderful person to know in my high school and college years with Kathy. The house on 42nd street was always full of great smells of the goodies she always had prepared! And the love between the two of you showed me so much of what a loving marriage can be. Mr. Steffes and family: As I write this I am very saddened by the loss of your mom, grandmother, and wife. Each one of you are so lucky to have had a person in your life, who was filled with so much laughter and love. Pat always welcomed everyone in her home and made them feel special. As a friend of Kathy's, I loved spending time with her and will deeply miss her. I will definately try to remember her with laughter and not with tears. She is now an angel in heaven. Dear Marv and family, I really hoped I could be at the funeral but my situation prevented that. I am sorry to hear of her death. When I first heard of her very bad situation earlier this year I thought back to the gracious person she was. I remember her and you coming out to Gratz's and even though I was just a teenager she treated me like someone worth talking to. I will always hold those memories close to me as I grow older. May you have the strength to suffer this loss with knowledge she is in a better place, and recall how wonderful she was through your years together.

Dear Marv, I just learned of Pat's death - I take the Sunday GR Press by mail and I'm always a little late learning of things. I didn't realize Pat was ill and I know you and the kids will miss her terribly. I have your and Pat's picture from your anniversary on my bulletin board still. You and Pat were two of the sweetest people I knew in GR and my thoughts are with you.
