Patsy A. Zylstra

Patsy Zylstra, age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Alvin Zylstra; sisters Ruth Good, Gladys Timmer; sister-in-law, Gertrude Molenkamp; brother-in-law, Victor Good. She is survived by three children Doug (Karen) Zylstra, Laurie (Gary) Schmitt, Kerri (Robert) Hanson; six grandchildren Tyler (Kat) Hanson, Tara (Jeremy) Strayer, Brandy (Andy) Johnson, Ben Schmitt, Amber (Andy) Bowen, Christopher Schmitt; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Molenkamp; brother-in-law, Jerry Timmer; and many nieces, nephews, and many great friends.

Patsy retired from AT&T as a telephone operator after over 35 years of service. She kept in touch with the many friends there, known as the “lunch bunch,” long after retirement. After retirement, Alvin and Patsy enjoyed many travels with friends and relatives, including some of their favorite destinations of Branson and the Detroit Tigers. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. There are many great memories of attending grandchildren’s events, family holiday gatherings, and just hanging out at grandma and grandpa's. Patsy also loved reading and enjoyed sharing books with friends. Alzheimer’s stole her last years but now her memories are restored and Alvin is singing to her and holding her hand once again.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Patsy, contributions may be made to MaryFreeBed Rehabilitation Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association.
