Paul James Ostema, age 94, passed away at his home in Grand Rapids Saturday, June 15, 2024, while surrounded by family. Paul loved to travel on his motorcycle, touring across the continental United States; together, he and Joyce traveled over 350,000 miles. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Paul will be missed by his children Ruth (Dan) Helms, Shirley (William) Broderick, William (Cathy) Ostema, Thomas (Marcia) Ostema, Doris (James) Bantjes, Michael (Michelle) Ostema, Daniel (Tammy) Ostema, Janice (Joe) Kooienga, Ronald (Stephanie) Ostema; a whole host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ostema; children Darlene, Edna, James; parents Roy and Lena Ostema; siblings Roy Ostema Jr., Connie Ackley, Don Ostema, and Harold Ostema.
Visitation with the family will be held from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Military honors will be rendered 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the visitation. In memory of Paul and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center or Rejoice Radio (WPCS) of Pensacola, FL.
