BURGESS VELDHOUSE Pauline Burgess, age 83, of Byron Center, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, November 6, 2010. The youngest of 7 children, Pauline was born to Paul and Hattie Veldhouse on December 16, 1926. She was a loving wife, caring Mom, Grandma and "Grandma-Great", who prided herself in the family God had given her to care for. Her love for her husband was evident in her actions and words, and she was an amazing example of what a Godly wife and mother is. She loved fun and laughter and her singing and humming often filled the house. A member of First Byron Center CRC for most of her life, she spent almost 60 years in the church choir, sang at many funerals and weddings, and would go to record at WJBL Radio Station for a pastors radio hour. She also sang with the Sacred Tones Trio for many years. Her love for the Lord was clear to see, every time she sang.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Ernest Burgess, her parents, sisters; Alice and Frances, Brothers; Henry, George and Harvey. Pauline will be lovingly remembered by her ten children, Carl and Lynn, Paul and Kathy, Dave and Kathy, Lori and Duke Vander Ark, Sue and Dan Luyk, Pat Burgess, Mark and Deb, Mary and Steve Longstreet, Michael and Sherie, Tim and Tina; her 34 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; her loving sister, Jo Potter; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Glupker, Gladys Bisbee, Geraldine Van Sweden, Anne Burgess, Ema Jerene Burgess, Ardis Burgess, Jean Burgess, Marian Burgess, Kay Burgess and Roland and Jo Strating and many nieces and nephews.
Ps. 89:1 "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations." Pauline's family would like to extend a special thanks to all of her caregivers for their compassion.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Pauline's family will be held at the Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW from 6 to 9 PM on Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM Tuesday.
