

Raymond J. Courtade, age 82 of Jenison, died December 16, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Elizabeth Courtade; brother, Leo; sister-in-law, Carol; sister, Bernadine Wiersma; and brother-in-law, Jack. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Sue Ann (Dogger) Courtade; children Amy Babins, Michael (Gloria) Courtade, and Karen (Richard Grzesiak ll); grandchildren Tavia (Mark Delzer), Joseph (Sarah) Babins, Samuel Babins, Raymond Courtade, Shelby Visser; great-grandsons Morgan and Silas Delzer, and Anders Babins; and cherished dog, Toby.
Ray was born and raised on a dairy farm. He attended Boody School, a one-room schoolhouse in Conklin, Michigan. He graduated from Coopersville High School in 1958. He attended GRCC and RETS Electronic School. He served his country with the Michigan Army National Guard. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1959 and an active charter member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Jenison. He retired from the General Motors 36th Street hi-lo and truck repair shop. He loved being with his family and traveling to many states and countries, including Europe, China, Australia, and Egypt. He loved John Deere tractors, hunting, and fishing.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. S.W., Grandville, MI 49418. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Parish, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428, with visitation from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
