Richard Girard Keenan

Richard was born to Frank and Helen Hummel Keenan December 13, 1926. Raised in Grand Rapids, he joined the service at age 17 and served in the Pacific during WWII with the US Navy as a radioman on board an LST. Following his military service Richard graduated from Comstock Park High School and then married Patricia Sevensma. He retired in 1988 after spending most of his life in the car business as a salesman and owner/operator of several car dealerships on SE Division Ave. Richard was liked by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Joan and Susan; granddaughter Bria; and his brothers and sister, Frank, Thomas, George, Charles, William, Robert, James and Eileen.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; children, Sharon Lemm of Albuquerque, New Mexico and son, William Keenan of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Jade and Jason Hermes of Phoenix, Christopher Poll of Rockford, Colby Blaukamp of Albuquerque, Jodi Sparks of San Diego, Zachary, Daniel, and James Keenan of Portland, Oregon; sisters and brother, Rose and Kathleen and Michael.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Jenison Chapel, 1889 Baldwin, Jenison. Interment will be at Cascade Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may meet Richard’s family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
