

Richard Petersen, age 65, of Monterey Township, passed away, Tuesday, September 27, 2011. He was born November 27, 1945, in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Rosemary (Schmidt) Petersen; his infant sister, Mary Petersen. Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia Petersen (Siekirk); his children, Todd (Christi) Petersen and Christie (Rodney) Johnson; step-children, Mike (Kathleen) Bittner, Karmel (John) Berens, William A. Bittner, Steve (Patty) McBride, Jim (Jenny) McBrian; his 15 grandchildren; his siblings, Larry (Judy) Petersen, Kenny (Carma) Petersen, Ray (Jean) Petersen, Beth (Glen) Sible, Mike (Brenda) Petersen, Kathy (Mike) Strojny, Joan (Vic) Stevens, Steve (Kathy) Petersen and Paul (Bonnie) Petersen.
Richard was a co-owner of Buehler Realty in Byron Center. He was a former owner of The Cobble Gobble Restaurant and was a Loan Officer at the First National Bank in Lake City, MI. Richard was happiest cooking and spending time with family and friends. He loved to spend time hunting and fishing.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, October 1st, at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 - 84th St. SW. An open gathering will be held for guests to meet the family from 2:30 to 5:30 PM Saturday, at the American Legion Post 127 in Dorr, 4310 a?" 18th St. In honor of Richard, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
