Richard was the beloved son of the late Charles and Mary Westra. He devoted much of his adult life to his family and, most especially, to his husband and life partner of 45 years, Conrad Anaya, with whom he shared a deep, enduring love built on commitment, loyalty, and quiet strength.
Richard was a thoughtful, community-centered man known for his generosity and kindness, He gave freely of his time and care, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to family, neighbors, and friends. His presence was steady and reassuring, and those who knew him admired his compassion, humility, and sense of responsibility to others.
In addition to his husband, Conrad, Richard is survived by his brother, Tom Westra; sister, Susan Griffin; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him for his warmth, attentiveness, and unwavering devotion to family.
Richard’s life was one of service, love, and quiet dignity. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the many lives he touched.
The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
