Tom was a great guy and a real mentor to me in my position with the Michigan department of environmental quality in the shiawassee district office is knowledge and understanding of tank systems help me in so many ways. He invited me hunting geese several times and he had a lot of stories. I vividly remember the day that he was returning his state vehicle before retiring with us and a kamakazi turkey flew into the side of the van breaking out the window showering him with glass. I'm glad that Tom found Margaret (she's such a sweetheart) to enjoy the remaining years of his life, sincerely Brian Muench

Thank you, Frank. I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but heard many stories about the fishing trips with these guys and you as captain. I can only imagine the stories you heard as these fellows reminisced.

Thanks, Art. Tom took pride in his career.  After his retirement, hunting and fishing with family and friends became his focus.  His latest level of achievements was Grandpa. He wore that badge with much pride and joy.

I first met Tom when we were promoted to Sgt. in the Fire Marshal Division assigned to the First District in Lansing.  If my memory is correct this was in October 1977.  Tom and I became friends and worked together doing field work in hazardous materials and other types of fire safety inspections.  Later, we were assigned to Fire Marshal Division headquarters.  Tom always had a great sense of humor and shared many stories of his days as a trooper on the road.  After our careers with the State Police we both worked in the Department of Environmental Quality, Storage Tank Division where he met Margaret.  I am fortunate to have known Tom as a friend and part of my life for so many years.

So sorry Margaret I am sure that Tom and Jim are ducking hunting everyday and toasting a scotch every night. You and your family are in my prayers.

Tom and I never actually worked together, but I sure enjoyed fishing with him over the years.  The rest of his crew were usually Jim Baird, Gene Sweeney and Wade Schafer...and one year he brought Hal along.  Great memories!  RIP and Semper Fi, Tom.
