
For every sunset on earth there is a sunrise in Heaven.
Vern’s sun rose in Heaven on Sunday, July 20, 2003, where he joyfully continues to sing praises to God.
Vern was devoted to his family and church as a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 20 years.He sang in the Sanctuary Choir, played with the Westminster Winds, served as Coordinator of the Churchmen’s Luncheon, and volunteered on several other committees. He was a charter member of the Grand Rapids Symphonic Chorus. Vern also enjoyed a thirty three year career with Michigan Bell.
Those who will always cherish his memory, his wife and soul mate of 15 years, Maureen; his children, Pamela Haan, Kirk Haan, Karey Howard, Randy Haan and Michael Michele Haan; step-son Joshua Schmidt; his five grandchildren; sisters and brothers, June Dan Germeraad, Tom Haan, Mary Haan, Ron Linda Schuitema, Barb Don Holtrop, Casey Lori Schuitema, and Nancy Harley Westrate; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 10 a.m. from the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson St SE, Grand Rapids, MI.
The family will meet with relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Vern’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, Westminster Winds, Camp Henry, or Churchmen’s Luncheon.
