William Henry Haan

HAAN - William Henry Haan, age 83, was gently taken from this life into eternal glory Tuesday morning. He passed away in his home under the loving care of his faithful wife and children. William was born in the Netherlands on December 8, 1924, to Hendrik and Trijntje Haan. His teenage years were tempered by the Second World War. William married Martha Veenema in 1950 and immigrated to the United States. William was heavily involved in church life. He worked in various factories including Keeler Brass for more than 20 years. He was a dedicated husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived his life close to his Heavenly Father and truly enjoyed the outdoors where he could see the beauty of our Father's creation. He was a charter member of the American Reformed Church for 53 years where he served as elder.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Al Haan and sister, Sietske Haan. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Martha, and their nine children: Hank and Sandy Haan, John and Pam Haan, Bill and Phyllis Haan, Marge and Jim Machiela, Kathy and Dirk ten Haaf, Mike and Laurie Haan, Ted and Laurie Haan, Susy and Dave ten Haaf, Deb and Mike Bjorge. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a Christian School of your choice.

Friends and relatives may meet with the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 29 at Providence Christian Reformed Church, 7730 Eastern Ave. SE, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guestbook online at www.cookfuneralservices.com.
