

Carole Rose Shaw of Grants Pass passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday,
January 30, 2018. She was born on June 13, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to Don and Rose Houghton.
Carole moved to Grants Pass in 1974 and opened her own beauty shop, the Governor’s Mansion, where she worked for 26 years. For the past 18 years, she worked at the Bridge Hair Salon where she gave out free hugs to everyone daily.
Carole spent her early years in Grants Pass building her business and relationships in the community. Carole had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines with her sister, Dianne. Carole founded the Divorce and Separated Support Group at St. Anne Catholic Church where she earned a national award for her work. Carole always had a big, kind heart and frequently took people in to her home to help them get on their feet. Carole was generous, caring, funny, charitable and warm person.
The impact she had on people’s lives was remarkable and will be forever remembered.
Carole is survived by her daughter, Don Don Williams and her husband, Tony of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; daughter, Courtney Clark and her husband, Marty of Medford, Oregon; and four grandchildren, Brennon and McKenzie Clark of Eugene, Oregon, and Reilly and Rhys Williams of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is also survived by her nephew, Kevin Williams of Grants Pass; three nieces, Randi Ritsch, Deanna Janik, and Kathy Mahr of Grants Pass; nephews, Don Houghton III of Arizona and Danny Houghton of California; and step-son, Chuck Shaw of California.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Don Jr.; and beloved sister, Dianne Williams of Grants Pass.
Carole was an amazing person who touched so many lives in her community. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, mentor, and counselor. Her presence in everyone’s lives will be greatly missed, but the time we had with her will be cherished.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary for Carole Rose will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass. In honor of Carole and the color she loved so much, please wear something pink to the service.
