
Christopher Alan Chapman, age 27, formerly of Grants Pass, Oregon, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on April 15, 2016 in Kirkland, Washington. He will be dearly missed by all. Chris was born on January 15, 1989 to Kirk and Jamee Chapman. He attended St. Anne Catholic School where he also served as an Altar Boy. He graduated from Hidden Valley High School in 2007 with honors. He played soccer on the hidden Valley soccer team and he was a Skyline Conference first team selection in 2006. After high school Chris attended Western Culinary Le Cordon Bleu Institute where he received his Associate Degree in culinary arts in 2008. Christopher believed that preparing food brought people together, and in turn this fellowship nourished their souls too. His professional career took him to Rover's Restaurant under the direction of Chef Thierry Rautureau, who became his culinary mentor. Recognizing Chris' talent, artistic creativity and passion for the culinary arts, Chef Thierry referred him to Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City, where Chris excelled for six years. In 2015, Chris returned to Seattle, WA to become the Executive Chef at RN74. He was recognized for his culinary talents and received many awards for his "cutting edge" and innovative style. Chris was recently honored by Rising Star Magazine and was nominated for the prestigious Zagat Award. Chris was known for his warm genuine smile, compassion and amazing culinary talents that were beyond measure. He gave his time, heart and soul to his family and precious friends. He was humble, generous in spirit and always put other people first. He was passionate about photography and loved the pacific Northwest for its beauty and great hiking. He and his dad shared an interest and love for cars. Chris enjoyed traveling with his faithful dog and companion, "Lily." And was a BIG fan of the New England Patriots. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa Thomas McGuinn. Chris is survived by his parents, Kirk and Jamee; his brother, Kirk Jr.; sister, Nicole; niece Jaidyn and nephew, Gavin. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Lu McGuinn of Grants Pass, and his paternal grandmother, Arlene of Wasilla, Alaska; his many aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends; and his beloved, four-legged companion, Lily. A Catholic Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church, followed by a reception and Celebration of Chris' Life.
