ELIZABETH LOUISE FORDYCE

July 11, 1928 – March 20, 2021

Elizabeth L. Fordyce of Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away on March 20, 2021, at her home. She was 92.

Elizabeth was the youngest of two. She was born in Fresno, California, on July 11, 1928, to Jack and Frieda Pickering.

She married Stanley Jurek in 1955. After their two children, Jerri and David, were born, they moved to Stan’s home state of Minnesota. After a tragic accident took his life in April 1960, she moved back to California in 1962 and then to Grants Pass in 1964. In 1966, she married Harry Fordyce.

She was active in the auxiliary for Southern Oregon Hospital and Asante Three Rivers Hospital for 39 years. She would have continued her volunteer work but she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, to live with her daughter, Jerri, after Harry passed away in March 2009. She remained in Alaska until September 2016 when she moved back to Grants Pass. She loved to travel and has been from Alaska to Key West. Visiting local wineries was a favorite drive for her.

Survivors include her daughter, Jerri (Ken) Lythgoe, and stepdaughter, Charlotte Fordyce; grandchildren, John Shackleford (who was her caregiver for the last two years), Tony (Tiffany) Jurek, Rhianon (Daniel) Cardona, Stanley Jurek and Sarah Wyatt; and great-grandchildren, Annabella Shackleford, Liam Jurek and Averie Jurek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Jurek; her second husband, Harry Fordyce; her son, David Jurek; her parents, Jack and Frieda Pickering, and her brother, Eugene Pickering.

Arrangements are being made for a memorial service at Chapel of the Valley – LB Hall Funeral Home.
