She was born Feb 16, 1941 in Cottage Grove, OR, to Dwight and Marie Claudson, the second of three children.
She was raised in Grants Pass, and graduated from Grants Pass high school in 1959. She enlisted in the Navy after high school, where she met her husband Jerry while stationed at Oakland/Alameda Naval Station in California. They were married on April 7, 1961 shortly before her discharge from active duty. Her children Susan and David were born while they were in Oakland, then the family was stationed in Rota Spain for two years. Eunice and the children returned to Grants Pass in 1969 when Jerry was deployed to Vietnam.
After Jerry's discharge from the Navy, the family eventually settled in Elkton, Oregon, where they lived for 11 years. Jerry's career with the Veteran's Administration took them briefly to Renton Washington, then Madison Wisconsin, Big Spring Texas, and finally Columbia, Missouri. Upon Jerry's retirement from Civil Service, he and Eunice returned to Grants Pass in 1995 to care for Eunice's elderly mother.
Eunice and Jerry loved to help others... they became a foster home for Douglas County while living in Elkton, helping teens and younger children in need, and in later years also opened their home to friends who needed a place to stay. Eunice enjoyed sewing and crafting, was active in her church community wherever she lived, and had been an active member of the Grants Pass chapter of the Red Hat Society, a women's social organization.
Eunice is survived by her brother Phil, her children Susan and David, three grandchildren: Brynan, Kaylyn, and Aaron, and one great-grandson Cole.
