Evelyn A. Martin, 95, of Grants Pass, died peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Norris Manor Adult Care. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, July 3rd, at Chapel of the Valley - L.B. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Wes Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass, Oregon. Evelyn was born on January 16, 1920 in Hood River, Oregon to Earl and Doris Boyd. Her family had homesteaded in Cave Junction in 1906. She graduated from Kerby Union High School in 1938. On December 4, 1938, she married Eddie Martin, also from the Illinois Valley. They moved to San Diego, Calif., where her husband joined the U.S. Navy. There Evelyn worked at Consolidated Aircraft as an inventory specialist, part of the Rosie the Riveter generation during WW II. In 1990, the Martins made Grants Pass their permanent home. Survivors include two daughter, Nancy Harper and Patti Heath; one grandson, Drew Castro; four grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, her brother Oliver and her devoted grandson, Dean Harper.
