James Frantz Ziebarth

Jim passed away peacefully, the afternoon of January 7, 2024 at his home in the company of friends at the age of 75.

Jim was born in Glendale, CA on November 12, 1948 and moved to Grants Pass, OR in 1954 at the age of 6.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother Ernie, his mother Verna and father Lovel James Ziebarth.

He is survived by his son Cyle Ziebarth, sister Janet Ziebarth Hackleman, nieces Hilary Hackleman Thompson and Deirdre Hackleman Schumacher and one grand nephew Alban Thompsons.

Jim went to Grants Pass SDA Church school for 8 years, attended high school at Milo Academy, Gems

State Academy and Rogue River Academy, and served 4 years in the Air Wing of the Navy as a systems technician. He received a Meritorious Unit Commendation and several medals. He returned to Grants Pass and was mostly know to his friends as an expert in Harley Davidson motorcycles; fixing, building and riding them. He loved to be free to explore the open road.

Special thanks to Mandy Boozer who volunteered to stay with him when he couldn’t manage alone and gave him loving care to the end. We will be eternally grateful for the many acts of kindness she showed him. Thanks to Kathy King who was with Jim along with Mandy when he passed away. More thanks to his many friends, the bikers who have showed their devotion for Jim and the other caretakers who helped along the way. Thanks to the Navy Honor Guard that will be providing the guard ceremony at the cemetery for James's service. Thanks to the Old Guard for the flag line they are presenting as well as the riders that will be taking James from the church to his final resting place.

Open casket viewing will be at the Grants Pass Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 1360 NE 9th St.

Grants Pass, OR 97526, on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by a closed casket funeral at 11:00 AM.

Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral, at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, 2500 Upper River Road, Grants Pass OR.
