Kathryn “Kathy” Elaine Timbs, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, resting in the promise of eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kathy was born on November 1, 1938, in Santa Monica, California, to James R. Lowell and Hazel (Garver) Lowell. From the very beginning of her life, she was rooted in faith—baptized on December 25, 1938, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. She later affirmed her faith through Confirmation in June of 1951 and remained steadfast in her walk with Christ throughout her life, finding strength and hope in His promises.
On December 1, 1956, Kathy married her husband, Jerry Timbs. Together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and devotion, and were blessed with two sons, Jerry Timbs Jr. and Randall Timbs.
In 1973, Kathy and her family moved to Oregon, where she continued to build a life centered on family, faith, and service. She began working with the state unemployment office before transitioning to the Department of Human Services, where she served in the welfare department for many years. Her work reflected her compassionate heart and desire to help others. She retired in 1996 after years of dedicated service.
Following retirement, Kathy embraced a season of travel beginning in 1999, exploring different parts of the United States. She especially enjoyed spending time in Branson, Missouri, and visiting Arizona—places that brought her both joy and cherished memories.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family deeply and found great joy in the generations that followed her.
In her early years, Kathy expressed her love for her family through her creativity. She was an avid knitter, often making sweaters, hats, and afghans for her grandchildren and family members—gifts that were both practical and deeply personal. She also enjoyed sewing, creating dresses by hand, which later blossomed into a lifelong passion for quilting. Quilting remained one of her greatest joys, a craft she continued faithfully throughout her life.
Kathy was deeply devoted to her church community for many years. She faithfully served on various boards over the decades and found special joy in being part of the quilting group, where her talents and fellowship came together.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Anne) and Randy (Debra), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of faith and love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry, and her brother, Russ Lowell.
Kathy’s life was a testament to her enduring faith. She lived with quiet strength and a deep trust in the Lord, and she will be remembered for her devotion, her gentle spirit, and the love she showed to those around her.
As Scripture reminds us, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord” (Revelation 14:13), and “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21). With grateful hearts, we give thanks to God for the life of Kathy and the many ways He worked through her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
