After attending Galileo High School in San Francisco, California, he moved on to join a trade program painting for the city of San Francisco. Following his time in San Francisco, Marshall joined the United States Air Force. After the Air Force, he worked for Civil Service as a superintendent in the Navy. He was able to travel all over the world during his career with both the military and the Civil Service. Colorado, Guam, the Philippines, and Hawai’i to name a few. His last duty with the civil service was in the Philippines- this is where he retired before moving to Oregon.
Marshall retired in 1987 and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon with his wife and son Alexander. During his retirement, he worked for the United States Census and spent much of his time volunteering. It was his pride and joy to volunteer with the Salmon Derby, assist with clean ups of the Rogue River after storms, as well as helping to grow forests by planting trees in the mountains.
