

Marjorie Wilburn Laughlin, “MeMe”, died peacefully at Meadowview Place on November 17, 2014 in Keller, Texas at the age of 96. She was born May 30, 1918 in Cedar Bayou, Texas to Asa and Essie Smith Wilburn. Marjorie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1935. In 1936 she married Granville Allen Laughlin and the couple welcomed two children into their home, Ruel and Marjean. Marjorie lived in Baytown most of her life. She moved to Keller, Texas in 2005. Marjorie had a passion for dancing that she passed on to her children. At her 90th birthday party she was the first to grace the dance floor and the last to leave. A week before her passing she could be found dancing at Meadowview Place in Keller. Marjorie was a member of Cedar Bayou Methodist Church, Goose Creek Country Club, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid Bridge player, bowler, wii bowler and could often be found attending fashion shows at the country club. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Essie Wilburn of Baytown, Texas; her husband Granville A. Laughlin of Baytown, Texas; her son, Ruel Michael Laughlin of Tarkington Prairie, Texas and a brother, Earl Wilburn of Baytown. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Marjean Nelson and husband James Nelson of Keller; grandchildren, Laurie Bester of Bryan, Kyle Nelson of Dallas, Ruel Michael Laughlin, II of Caldwell, Allen Laughlin of Dayton, Kory Nelson of Keller and Shana Boone of Sour Lake; and great-grandchildren, Megan Parker and Brittany Ison of Bryan, Conner, Cameron and Christian Nelson of Dallas, Morgan Laughlin of Round Rock and Kairi Nelson of Keller. Marjorie will be forever remembered as a caring and devoted mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home.
